Another morning of "study leave"...

Left home 9.15am but feckin Brighton traffic, must have been an accident along the seafront road, took almost an hour to get to Shoreham, would probably have been longer had I not taken a detour from my usual seafront route.

Surfladle first to pick up my new 06 Rock 5.2 :) then to the beach. It would have been good to try somewhere else (e.g. Lancing) but due to lack of time faffing around checking out new places wasn't really an option so Shoreham again. Got there 10.30ish and lots of 5m sails were rigged on the beach but word from those who had just been out was that it was getting windier...time to put up the new 4.5 then!

OK session, not as good as yesterday, was solidly powered on the 4.5 fully downhauled, but several rain showers passed over during the session and during each one the wind really picked up. So much of the session was survival sailing, i.e. not so good. Also the wind was more onshore than yesterday, and the waves seemed to be more mushy and blown out, i.e. less good for jumping. Had a few half-decent backside rides but that was about as good as the session got. NO LOOPS (warning: lame excuse imminent) had a couple of jumps which could have been rotated into forwards but was so maxed/overpowered and trying to stay in control for much of the session that attempting forwards seemed foolish. Would have been good to try some more backies but none of the limited ramps were steep enough and I had virtually no vertical jumps.

So although was proper windy the messy crappy waves and water state meant it wasn't the most satisfying of sessions. Still, was a proper decent sail, great to be able to get out during the week, and good thing I did since it looks like that could be the last of the wind for a while.
